Skinned and assembled, ready for play

Getting ready for the table’s first gig – I finished installing the soundports and the edge banding, and installed all the instruments as designed.

It’s starting lo look, as this mechanic I know used to say, pretty foxy.

A few more adjustments are due: I want to angle the xylophone keyboard toward the player (It looks great in mockup), I need to connect several pairs of sticks and mallets so they don’t wander off, and give them somewhere on the table to hang while awaiting players.

And I need to bolt down the percussion rack so it doesn’t wander during play.

Then I throw the whole thing into a U-Haul and take it to SEACompression this weekend.

It’ll be something of a shakedown cruise; Burners are often hard on installations, and I’ll be glad to see where it breaks in the short term so I can iterate the design to last.
